Orthopedic beds vs Pocket Springs.

Orthopaedic beds.
Without wishing to appear to be detrimental to other retailers and manufacturers, who may use the term Orthopaedic to seduce you to buy one of their beds, there is no proven link to any medical benefits from these type of beds, and not one Hospital, Medical body or Institution have associated their name to this. Historically, opinion was that you need a hard bed because it may last longer. These beds were made from “open coil” springing systems, where all the springs are connected together. You may of seen one of these frames when burning a mattress on bonfire night. With this in mind, you will appreciate that, the other major issue with this type of bed, is that if you sit on one side, your weight, through the connected springs, will pull right across the bed, causing ones partner to be disturbed or woken. They are then possibly wrapped in foam, and covered in a pre-sewn covering. More recently, manufacturers using this or a similar process have understood the issues mentioned, and tried to soften through various novelties, changing the shape of the spring, having softer springs in pressure spots and by manipulating fillings. But at the end of the day, these beds will still have pull.
This is why at Feather & Springs we produce the best pocket spring mattresses. Each spring is wrapped in its own individual fabric pocket, softly linked, hand nestled and set with in a frame. A quality mattress should gives enough support that you can feel it in the small of your back, but not so soft that you can not wiggle your fingers a little. When buying a bed, the best thing to consider is in the spring count because this is really where you pound counts.
